Taking Care of Our Own
Mrs. Hill (name changed for confidentiality) was preparing to bring her son in for an appointment and needed to update his health records as his name had changed since his last visit, due to adoption. On a Monday, she spoke with Karen Sullivan, in the Health Information Management office, who explained the name change needed to be made before their appointment on Tuesday. She was worried about the time crunch and really wanted to get the change made quickly. Karen informed the mom of where she needed to go to make the change, and Hill, who worked in the hospital, immediately headed to the Health Information Management Office to complete the task. Karen was waiting for her when she arrived and immediately took care of the name change. When Mrs. Hill and her son arrived for their appointment the next day, everything was seamless. Mrs. Hill was extremely grateful that Karen had given the situation her full and immediate attention and had really helped calm her worries.
